As you may know, for several years we had been working on a supported living home for orphans who, upon reaching adulthood, would otherwise be sent to nursing homes for the rest of their lives. Sadly, the war disrupted those plans—our ministry leader has died at the front, and the orphanage director is currently not willing to release the children, even for a short camp stay, due to the ongoing hostilities.

We were heartbroken. But God wasn’t. He remains in control and knows how to turn even the most painful circumstances into a blessing. And that’s exactly what He did.

A Christian family connected to Almaz Church volunteered to move into the home and take care of the property until the time comes when we can continue with the original plan. This is a family deeply devoted to God, and naturally, as they settled in and built relationships with their neighbors, they began sharing the Gospel.

Before long, a small Bible group had formed. There’s no evangelical church in the village, and most of the people attending the Bible study are locals who don’t yet know Christ. What began as a simple act of stewardship has become a new mission outpost—and we are amazed at how God is working through it.
