The Weekend in Znamianka
This time, we took a bold step as a team—we didn’t just go for the day, we stayed for the whole weekend in Znamianka!
Since we had a full day—and even more—ahead of us, we didn’t have to rush like we sometimes do. Instead, we were able to enjoy unhurried, meaningful time with the children. Of course, we still had our usual program for them: songs, crafts, and a Bible story. But beyond that, we spent lots of relaxed time outdoors—blowing bubbles and roasting marshmallows together.
Some of the children had seen bubbles when volunteers brought them—but they had never actually had the chance to blow them themselves. The joy on their faces as they held the bubble guns and created their own soapy magic was priceless.
We’re deeply thankful to our team, who gave up their weekend—after a long workweek—to be there for the children. We’re also so grateful to our partners, whose support made it possible for us to stay overnight in Znamianka and provide toys and treats for the kids.
And most of all, we thank God. Because of this overnight stay, we were able to connect on a deeper level—not only with the children but also with the orphanage director, the staff, and each other as a team.
It was truly a rich, encouraging experience, and we hope it’s the first of many more to come.
