What’s always a challenge for us on trips to the Zaluchchya orphanage is bringing something special—given the long distance and tricky logistics. But that never stops us. Every time, we aim to bring something that brings joy and helps the children understand the Gospel better.

This time, we brought a guitar and a minister from Almaz Church who recently adopted two children himself. He loves to sing, and the kids love listening. We saw this clearly on our latest visit.

We began with worship songs in the main hall, then moved from room to room singing to children who are bedridden and usually can’t join the group meetings. As soon as the music started, even the children in severe pain—who normally cry out constantly—would calm down and listen quietly.

When we returned to the hall, we found the children still waiting for us, hoping the “concert” would continue. Though we were exhausted, we couldn’t disappoint them—so we sang again, and their joyful faces made it all worth it.

As always, we also made crafts together. And this time, we brought a projector to show the animated story “Punchinello: You Are Special” by Max Lucado. It helped us share the powerful truth that each child is unique and precious in God’s eyes.

The group of children was unusually large this time—and we’re so grateful that so many got to hear this important message.
